Beverages in China-Associated British Foods

Shanghai AB Food & Beverage Ltd. is the joint venture between Associated British Foods plc and Shanghai Maling Aquarius Group. The investment for Shanghai AB Food & Beverage Ltd. is more than US$30 million, and the company employs more than 200 people. Its plant is located in the Shanghai Minhang Economic & Technical Development Zone, producing extramalt industrial malt and Ovaltine drinks.

Located in Shanghai Jinqiao Export Zone, ABF Twinings Beverages (Shanghai) Limited is 100% owned by Associated British Foods. Opened in 2005, the company has about 50 employees and advanced tea packaging equipment. The tea bags produced here are mainly exported.

Products and brands

Ovaltine: The ingredients of Ovaltine include malt extract, milk, egg, 11 vitamins, 6 minerals and other nutrients. Ovaltine is a natural drink with high nutrient density and cocoa flavor. Created in 1904 by a Swiss pharmacist, it is the number one malt drink in Europe and the only global brand in the malt-chocolate market. Since 1994, Ovaltine has been the top international malt brand in Shanghai, East China and Guangdong Province.

Fu Pai Lacovo: "Fu Pai" Lacovo is the largest Chinese national brand of nutritional beverage for mature consumers.

Twinings: In 1837, Queen Victoria granted Twinings their first Royal Warrant for tea as 'Purveyor in Ordinary to Her Majesty'. Today, Twinings is honoured to hold Royal Warrants of Appointment to HM The Queen and HRH The Prince of Wales. Customers in more than 100 countries enjoy Twinings products, which include not only the traditional black tea and green tea, but the fruit and herbal infusions, aromatic teas and iced teas which delight the taste buds of a new generation of customers.

Our products are sold in 45 cities by exclusive distributors and more than 10,000 key account stores. 75% of sales are through modern trade with the remaining 25% through traditional trade. The industrial sales cover more than 100 customers.
